Returning to Face to Face Rehearsal!

Greetings Warrior Band! We hope you all are well and staying safe. Thank you to everyone for your diligence in making the best out of this school year and still continuing to make our program the best it can be. We also appreciate your patience as we have been trying to sort out our plan for returning to face-to-face rehearsal. 

Our goal is to put together our annual Spring Concert as well as begin training to Reactivate our Marching Band Program. To do this successfully, we must begin our face-to-face rehearsals. The plan is to gradually work our way back into a groove, while not putting added stress on you. We will rehearse 2 times a week from now until the beginning of May. We have a pending Marching Band performance scheduled for Sunday, May 2nd with more details to come, and our Spring Concert will be Thursday, May 6th. 

Rehearsals are open to students who are both virtual, or face-to-face during the school day. If you plan to not return to the school in any capacity, please contact Mr. Brookes (asbrooks@atlanta.k12.ga.us) and let him know about your specific circumstance. This decision will be honored and respected and we will find a way for our virtual students to still be part of the action. As always, students involved in other activities such as sports and jobs will be asked to adjust schedules where they can, splitting times, etc. 

Safety Protocols:

  • Students’ entry will be either from the carpool or bus loop where they will have temperature checks. 
  • All students will be provided with a mask designed for band. Students must have this mask at every rehearsal or will not be allowed to practice that day. 
  • Students who play wind instruments (non-percussion) will have bell covers that must be on the instrument at all times. 
  • Students will always be socially distanced whether in our indoor practice areas (e.g. the band room, theater stage, or black box theater) or our outdoor practice areas. 
  • Students will only be allowed in the instrument storage room in small groups. 

While this is a very sensitive time for everyone on many fronts, it is important for the survival of our program that we begin to get active, step by step. Much thought and deliberation has gone into this decision. We ask that you continue to remain flexible as change is almost a certainty at this point. Please see the schedule below.
